The Atchafalaya Basinkeeper is a 501c3 non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.


        With your help the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper will:
  • Respond promptly to complaints through our toll free hotline: 877-96-BASIN (877-962-2746).
  • Patrol by air and water to monitor potentially damaging activities in the Basin.
  • Take legal action against polluters and violators when necessary.
  • Review all wetland permits concerning the Basin.
  • Review all pipeline canals, access canals and location canals to make sure that they complied with their Corps permits.
  • Our government should work for us. We will do whatever it takes to keep them honest.
  • All major activities will be posted on the Basinkeeper website for easy access by you.
  • Monitor for illegal cypress-tupelo logging on all the major basins in south Louisiana.
  • Continue the cypress comapign to stop unsustainable cypress logging.
  • Expand the Save Our Cypress Coalition.
  • Educate students about wetlands and the Atchafalaya Basin.
  • Teach adults about wetlands and the Atchafalaya Basin by expanding our seminars to civic groups and conferences.
  • Conduct research to better understand and manage the Atchafalaya Basin.
